The Electrochemistry and Functional Materials Laboratory, established in 2016, is affiliated with the School of Materials Science and Engineering and the State Key Laboratory of Materials Processing and Die & Mould Technology at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The laboratory focuses on the application of functional materials in the national key development fields such as "hydrogen energy economy" and "carbon neutrality", mainly studying the key materials and devices in the important electrochemical energy conversion process such as hydrogen fuel cells, electrolytic water hydrogen production, CO₂ electric reduction, as well as the catalyst design and reaction mechanism exploration of related electrocatalytic processes. At the same time, relying on Huazhong University of Science and Technology - Zhongyu Power Hydrogen Fuel cell Joint research Center and other platforms to carry out industry-university-research cooperation. The laboratory has a complete material preparation, structural characterization, device preparation and performance testing platform. It has maintained long-term cooperation and exchange relations with research institutions such as Los Alamos National Laboratory, State University of New York at Buffalo, Brown University, California State University, Ulsan University of Science and Technology in South Korea, and Synchrotron radiation Light Source in Taiwan.
